The Editor, Editorial Board and Publishers of Journal of Data Protection & Privacy welcome the submission of articles on the following subjects for the next issues of the journal.

  • Cyber security and data protection
  • Data protection and privacy in different jurisdictions
  • Data ethics
  • Role of the Data Protection Officer
  • Case studies of excellence in data protection
  • AI and data protection and privacy
  • Data protection/privacy case studies
  • Smart Cities
  • ‘Applied GDPR’
  • Blockchain and data protection 
  • Changes in direct marketing as a result of the privacy regulation 
  • Will the UK become an ‘adequate country’ when it leaves the EU?
  • Global data protection and privacy trends
  • New research on data protection nationally, regionally, globally

Submission guidelines

The following types of articles are considered for publication:

  • Practice articles: Thought pieces, best practice articles, case studies, new approaches, technologies and techniques, research reports, legal and regulatory updates, and other contributions written by practitioners. All case studies must address the following questions: What has worked? Why has it worked? What lessons were learned? How could it be done elsewhere? Articles should be 2,000 to 5,000 words in length.
  • Research papers: Contributions which explore new models, theories and applied research in data protection and/or privacy issues. Research papers must have clear implications for professionals and business practice. Research papers should be around 6,000 words in length.

All submissions will be peer-reviewed to ensure that they are of direct, practical relevance to those working in the field.
